JCM actively engages with local communities, such as the recent high-level meeting with the opinion leaders of Sefwi Dwenase, facilitated by the Municipal Chief Executive. These dialogues ensure mutual understanding and address community needs, including support for local infrastructure projects.
In partnership with WWF and West Africa Fair Fruit, we work with 15 communities around the Suhuma forest reserve. This project helps cocoa farmers increase their income through sustainable practices while preventing forest encroachment, creating a win-win situation for people and the environment.
We are a key partner in the Sefwi Wiawso Landscape Management Board. JCM has pledged to invest in planting over 100,000 timber shade trees in 3 years to support the reforestation of degraded areas in cocoa farmlands, working with the Forestry Commission and other partners.
Our commitment extends to improving livelihoods. By supporting projects like cocoa farm certification, we help farmers adopt good agricultural practices, reduce spending on pesticides, and achieve higher yields, thereby fostering a positive working relationship with the forest communities.
