Your job would be the overall management of the project in planting tropical timber species. The area is located at Sefwi area in the Western Region of Ghana, West Africa. The plan is to plant 1000ha in the year 2009. The contract would be for two (2) years, renewable.
Description of responsibilities:
- Develop and facilitate the achievement of the project, develop and ensure values required for long term success (relevant policies, plans, objectives and targets), implement via appropriate actions and behaviors
- Leading and managing the project team
- Taking care of the proper implementation and overseeing management of nursery
- Land preparation, pegging
- Ensuring germination targets met, project runs smoothly and overseeing planting schedule and success
- Site cleaning, post-plantation care
- Reporting of the progress of the project
- Acting as administrator managing all aspects of the project
- Manage, protect and develop the relationship with partner organisations for the good of the project.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Forestry or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position
- Knowledge and experience of modern plantation activities
- Expert in afforestation and plantation management
- Knowledge about Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification
- Good interpersonal skills
